The Airman and Family Readiness Center (A&FRC) assists individuals with researching and reaching for their career goals. We provide employment skills training to prepare you for a job search - resume writing, interview skills, local job market information, and so much more!  We can help you learn the Bay Area Local, State and Federal job markets, and how to find job sources abroad if you are PCSing, retiring or separating. Open to all DoD ID card holders, including DoD civilians and their family members.

We maintain job postings from a variety of local employers  in our Discovery Center, The folder "Job Opportunities" is loaded on the desktop of all the Discovery Center computers. These electronic job boards are updated several times a week. We also maintain a job board from local businesses looking to hire veterans and their family members.

Spouse Employment Orientation

Spouse Employment Orientation Learn about all of the resources A&FRC provides for a military spouse seeking a job or career development services. Held every Monday from 9-11 except federal holidays. Overview of all job search services available plus college and job skills training opportunities. A guided tour and introduction to the Discovery Center (The Best in Air Force) to expose every job seeker’s a dream of job listings.

Ultimate Job Search Workshop Schedule

Sign-up for this comprehensive job search skills workshop to include skills assessment, Financial management, preparing for the job search, job search strategies, how to work Job and Career Fairs, networking benefits, resume writing, following up on job opportunities, cover letters and interview techniques. This course is geared for the active job seeker, and will get you motivated for the planning and preparation it takes to land the ultimate job. Open to all job seekers (Active duty, Retiree's, Military Spouses, Family Members, college students). This workshop is held on the 1st Tuesday of each month.

10-Steps to Federal Jobs

This course will take you through the 10-step process for applying for a federal job. We will discuss the federal job process, networking (LinkIn). researching announcements, finding key terminology, proper format, discuss supplemental questionaires and KSA's. We will go through the http://www.usajobs.gov/, http://www.opm.gov/, http://www.avuecentral.com/ and other federal hiring agencies. There is nothing to bring to the class. You will recieve the 10-Steps to a Federal Job workbook and knowledge to prepare you for the federal hiring process. After completing the workshop the suggested follow-up is the Federal Resume Review Workshop on the 4th Tuesday of each month.   

This 4-hour course is held twice a month, day and in the evening classes are available.

Federal Resume Group Review

This is a great way to have several different eyes on your resume to make your Federal resume as effective and powerful as possible. This will ensure that you have the best format, content is accurate and targeted to the job that you are applying for. Recommended that you take the 10-steps to Federal Jobs Workshop prior to coming to the resume review. This class is held from 0800-1200 on the 4th Tuesday of each month.

Job Fairs

We sponsor and coordinate 4 Job Fairs a year. The employers that we invite are all actively looking to hire canidates from our Job Fairs. We have small business, large businesses from the local area, temp agencies, county , state and federal agencies all looking for canidates.
