A Free, 10 week structured after school enrichment program at Travis and Scandia Elementary Schools Amanda Richardson Operation Hero Program Manager 60fss.hero.program@us.af.mil 707-424-2486 Who Qualifies? Military dependents at Travis or Scandia Elementary School (Grades 1-5) Registering Your Child Step 1: Return a completed Referral Form to the Scandia or Travis Elementary school front office, the A&FRC, or email to the program manager. Step 2: Upon receipt, the Program Manager will provide you with a Participant Package. This package is required to be completed prior to a child's participation in any of the Operation Hero sessions. Sessions- Only 32 Slots Available Per Session Session 1: August 27-October 29; Deadline for registration: August 22, 2012 Session 2: October 31-January 24; Deadline for registration: October 22, 2012 Session 3: January 30- April 18; Deadline for registration: January 17, 2012 Travis Elementary: Mondays, 3:00pm-5:00pm; and Wednesdays, 1:00pm-3:30pm Scandia Elementary: Tuesdays, 3:00pm-5:00pm; and Thursdays, 3:00pm-5:00pm Holistic Education Individualized curriculum is used to foster the development of personal relationships, aspirations, understanding of diversity, and foudational academic skills through hands-on activities and reflective scenarios. Social Students will be learning strategies for conflict resolution while focus on developing group work skills and self esteem. Emotional Students will learn to identify their feelings and coping mechanisms for a variety of situations. Academic Students will receive homework assistance for approximately one hour during each Operation Hero session. This time includes tutoring as well as skill development from a qualified instructor.
