Try Volunteering. You will be glad you did! The Volunteer Resource Program enhances volunteerism by creating a central base resource for volunteer recruitment, training and recognition. If you are interested in volunteering, call at 707-424-2486 or visit the A&FRC. The Volunteer Resource Coordinator can meet with you to assess areas of interest and provide information on other possible volunteer opportunities.

Fisher House - Travis AFB DGMC

The Travis Fisher House provides free lodging for the family members of people who are being treated at David Grant USAF Medical Center.  Fisher House needs volunteers for a variety of functions.  There are three basic types of volunteer opportunities at the Travis Fisher House: Regularly Scheduled Volunteers, Occasional Volunteers, and Special Functions Volunteers.  Click here for more information regarding each type of volunteer.

Any skill you possess can probably be utilized to help the Travis Fisher House. So if you don't see the type of opportunity you would like listed and have an idea, just call Travis Fisher House at (707) 423-7550. The staff will be glad to work with you to make your volunteer experience an enriching and rewarding. 

Travis AFB Airmans Attic

The Airman's Attic has a on-going need for volunteers every Monday, Wednesday and Thurs from 1600-1800 hrs. Volunteers needed to sort and set up donations. To volunteer please contact the Airmen’s Attic POC David Garcia.

Travis AFB USO

The USO is in a huge need for volunteers!  The USO is a great source of comfort for the community (especially the free chocolates, cookies, candy, and other delectables). Volunteers are key to the success of their mission. Volunteer shifts are 3 hours and volunteers qualify for free child care through Air Force Aid. Available shifts are:

 

Monday-Friday: 11am - 2pm, 2pm - 5pm, and 5pm - 8pm

Saturday: 12pm - 3pm and 3pm - 6pm

ASYMCA Teddy's Child Watch

Teddy’s Child Watch is an Armed Services YMCA program located at David Grant Medical Center.  TCW is a “well child” (ages 6 months and up) supervised waiting room. The overall goal is to provide a better quality of life to military families by alleviating the stress and cost of finding child-care during medical appointments. Shifts are done in two hour increments. Your children are encouraged to come with you while you are at Teddy’s and help make our visitors feel warm and welcome. We hope that you are interested in becoming part of our Teddy’s family!  For more information call TCW at (707) 423-3376.

A&FRC Relocation Program

Seeking Key Spouse Volunteers to provide a “Need to Know/Nice to Know” and Key Spouse Program briefing to incoming Spouses as a key feature of the Spouse Newcomer Orientation.  The purpose of the event is to facilitate a smooth transition for new spouses, introduce them to other Spouses, and empower them with a solid orientation of the base and a foundational knowledge of programs, agencies, and resources available to them during their stay at Travis.  The events will be scheduled bi-monthly in the off PCS seasons and monthly during the high PCS seasons, taking place on the 3rd Friday of every month.  Volunteer/Alternates must be trained Key Spouse Volunteers.  Volunteers must sign up in advance for specific dates and contact/coordinate with Program Manager, Lisa Mathews and Mrs. Marina Felix (Key Spouse Lead for the Spouse Newcomer Orientation) NLT 2 weeks in advance to become familiarized with briefing/talking points.  Key Spouses who are would like to sign up or have questions should email Ms. Mathews at lisa.mathews.3@us.af.mil for additional information.

Also seeking volunteer B192 Drivers/Alternates for Spouse Newcomer Orientation Tour (time is 0845 - 1315).  Volunteer/Alternates must possess a B192 drivers’ license. 

  • Drivers will be required to pick-up and drop off the 15 passenger van from LRS.

  • Drivers will pick up the participants from the A&FRC, drive to and through identified locations, making a few key stops.  Drivers will need to have practiced/know the route prior to the event.

  • On the last stop, drivers will be treated to a free lunch at the USO, before returning participants to the A&FRC. 

  • Drivers/Alternates are asked to sign up in advance for specific dates (listed below) by emailing lisa.mathews.3@us.af.mil.

Travis AFB Education Center

The Education Center is in need of volunteers to help with customer service functions.  The Travis Education and Training centrally manages administration of all education and training matters at Travis. We support long-range Air Force goals for maintaining a high quality force and enhancing professional and personal development, recruitment, retention and readiness.

Volunteers are needed for each day of the week (Mon - Fri) between the hours of 9:00 am to 3:00 pm.  You must be at least 18 years old.

Are you an agency looking for volunteers?

Use this event request if you are requesting volunteers or wish for your event to be advertised with the Travis AFB Volunteer Resource Program.  The Volunteer Resource Program is only able to advertise for Travis AFB squadrons/groups, on-base agencies, & our off-base partnered agencies.  If you do not fit into this category and would like to request volunteers/advertise your event, please contact the Travis AFB Volunteer Resource Program coordinator at 60fss.afrc.volunteers@us.af.mil for consideration.  We are unable to advertise or request volunteers for, for-profit/fundraiser events.  Be sure to send the Base Volunteer Coordinator an After Action Report (with volunteers, hours served, etc), so that volunteer hours can be posted to the volunteers service account.

Travis Air Force Base Annual Volunteers Luncheon

Each year, Travis AFB celebrates volunteerism at an annual luncheon during National Volunteer Month. The A&FRC will contact volunteers registered in the program and invite them to a base-wide event for volunteers.
